Adults considering Spanish immersion programs often travel with partners who may not wish to participate in language instruction. These reviews from Fluenz participants describe experiences of non-Spanish speaking companions.
The Fluenz Spanish Immersion in Mexico City accommodates companions who attend cultural programming and meals without participating in Spanish instruction. Partners receive the same boutique hotel accommodations in Polanco, access to breakfasts and lunches, participation in evening cultural experiences including private museum tours and Michelin-starred dining, and the ability to explore the walkable Polanco neighborhood independently during instruction hours. Adults who learn Spanish in Mexico while traveling with non-Spanish speaking partners describe the arrangement as working successfully, with companions reporting positive experiences despite not studying Spanish themselves.

“I attended the Fluenz immersion program in Mexico City as a companion with my husband. It was a phenomenal experience which far exceeded my expectations. Although I don’t speak Spanish, I was welcomed by both Fluenz staff and students into all of their activities. Breakfasts were at my leisure. Lunches were excellent and even better was the conversation at the lunch tables. The programs outside of the classes were exceptional and unique – dinner at Pujol for the group and other dinners arranged for all of us, a private tour of the Anthropology museum after hours/no crowds, a tour of the last residence designed by Louis Barragan, etc.”
This companion describes the Polanco location as exceptional for independent exploration during class hours, with excellent shopping, coffee shops, and restaurants within safe walking distance. The Fluenz and hotel staff provided recommendations for activities. She and her husband formed friendships with other participants that continued after the program concluded.

“The Fluenz Spanish immersion program in Mexico City is outstanding in all respects! The venue is absolutely charming — well located in the trendy Polanco area of Mexico City, comfortable, intimate, low-key and inviting. The cultural programming during the week (architectural and museum visits; talks; restaurants; etc.) add depth and breadth to the week long experience.”

“The Pug Seal Hotel is funky and well-located (great breakfasts), and there is lots to do in the Polanco area. I would definitely book some time before/after the immersion to meander and tour the rest of Mexico City as the program is busy without much time to venture too far and the rest of the city holds so much to enjoy.”

“The hotel we stayed at was absolutely wonderful. It’s a small, boutique hotel (roughly 25 guestrooms) with an attentive, kind staff. The hotel staff made me feel like a special guest in someone’s home.”

“The boutique hotel is charming, and easy walking distance to a myriad of restaurants and museums. The group activities are not run of the mill touristy outings; they are fantastic. A private tour of the Archeology Museum in Mexico City, and a multi-course taster menu at a world renown restaurant were highlights for me.”
